Summer + Peter: Provo Canyon Engagement

November 8, 2012 •

We were sitting around the table talking about him, while she smiled goofy at her phone. Peter’s texts brought out school-girl quality giggles in Summer from Day 1, and we all knew it was nothing less than a dream come true.

Summer and Peter are a power couple; together they’re just completely unstoppable. I’ve known Summer since birth, and have always looked up to her–she’s one of the smartest, kindest, most beautiful human beings I’ve ever known. And Peter? He’s every bit her match; so full of goodness, generosity, and genuine care for others.

I love these two, and I’m honored to be part of telling their love story–which wouldn’t be complete without Summer’s darling kids, Kennedy and Cameron.

Can’t. Wait. For this fantastic wedding.

Meet Summer and Peter, my lifelong idol and her incredible man.

The Sumsions: At-Home Family Session

November 6, 2012 •

The Sumsions are such a fun family. It was a joy to photograph them playing with each other, laughing together, and loving each other like they do in real life–complete with snuggling, books, blocks, and jumping on the bed. (What family is complete without those essentials?!)

Gosh, I’m crazy about documenting families as they are–it’s the most beautiful thing.

Interested in having your family documented in an authentic, down-to-earth, no-frills way that’s overflowing with love and leaves cheesy smiles behind forever? At-home family sessions are for you. How much does this goodness cost and what do you get? Here are the deets.

Becca + Johnny: Intimate Salt Lake City Wedding

October 30, 2012 •

Becca and Johnny are the epitome of the perfect couple. So it follows that their wedding day was perfect–complete with the occasional worry, a bit of stress and permeating bliss. (Good idea: getting married at sunset.)

I always want to wrap my arms around my clients and thank them, so sincerely, for letting me be so up close and personal with their big day. It takes real strength to let someone who was a stranger a few months before get close enough and deep enough to really tell the story–and I am so grateful for that opportunity.

Becca and Johnny have two of the most infectious smiles ever created–together, they light up entire rooms–and the entirety of Temple Square, mind you. No less than six strangers came up to Becca and Johnny and asked to take photos of them for various reasons–the real truth? They’re magnetic. People just want to be around them. It was such a thrill to witness their incredible souls united, forever and ever and ever. (Okay, that was dripping with sappy. It was that great. I can’t help it.)

Becca and Johnny, thank you so much for allowing me the privilege of documenting your amazing love and the beginning of your life together. It was an honor.

The Fords: At-Home Family Session

October 17, 2012 •

I can’t even really talk very good about my love for the Ford Family. The mother of this family, beautiful open-hearted authentic Claire, is one of my dearest friends in the history of ever. We went through a lot of apartments and boyfriends and journals and groceries together, and with all that history I can’t sum us up in just a few sentences. Or paragraphs.

Her little family is adorable beyond reason, and she wanted in on this whole at-home family session magic. We documented a day in the life of her and her people–complete with a trip to the kitchen (read her food blog. now.), Addie’s bedroom, and the backyard.

Fords, you are my dream. I can’t believe how beautiful you are, truly.

Want in on the at-home family session magic, too?

Family sessions ring in at $350 and include a 1.5 hour session and all edited hi-res digital files (about 50+), online proofing, and the chance to document the drooly kisses, bear hugs, and Cheerio crumbs before they’re gone forever.

Contact me to chat about your family session! Oooh, I can’t wait–I might just give you a drooly kiss to complete the splendor, free of charge. =)

Rachel: Utah Lake Bridals

October 12, 2012 •

Rachel is beautiful for so many reasons–her understated glamour and magnetic charm, the way she cares about everyone, her joy in living–she is a wonderful human being. Combine her beauty with the sun setting on Utah Lake and whoa. I kept shouting, “That’s magic!”

What a gorgeous woman, and a gorgeous bride. Rachel, dear, it was a dream. You are magic.

Stay tuned for the wedding! Tide yourself over with their fun engagements.

Maddie + Jason: Handmade San Diego Wedding

October 5, 2012 •

Maddie and Jason thought of everything for their wedding, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day. They were surrounded by two of the greatest families and a bundle of the best friends any two people could ask for. Their people talked about how perfect they are together, how happy they make each other, and how blissful their life together will be. I just kept catching myself grinning watching Maddie and Jason throughout their wedding day–and as I grinned, I just thought: “This is what it’s all about.”

Maddie and Jason, thank you so much for having me out to San Diego to capture your story! You are an amazing pair.

Film goodness.

Becca + Johnny: Provo Bridals

September 28, 2012 •

Becca and Johnny are an incredible duo for so many reasons. They are both so kind and considerate, and if anyone personifies the advice to put your partner’s needs before your own, it’s Becca and Johnny. The way they care for each other is quiet and deep, never to impress other people. That’s the other thing I love about them: they’re so real.

And you know how I feel about peeps who are real–not afraid to laugh or love or be completely themselves–Ilovethem. And photographing them is the easiest thing in the world, because they’re right there with me, present and authentic and ready to try whatever cah-razy idea I might have.

I can’t wait to show you Becca and Johnny’s wedding–a marriage at sunset and the most beautiful details with their gorgeous selves all over it, eeeek! But for now, enjoy their bridals, shot in remote what’s-the-address? Provo and downtown Provo.

Need a hundred reasons to do a First Look at your bridal session? Here you go.

Amazing flowers by Calie Rose.

THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE. Like, whoa.

About to be wed and you and your love are wild childs up for a good time and fabulous photographs? I’m your lady. We can talk about it if you wanna.

The Last of Summer

September 25, 2012 •

I wore my boots with boot socks today, and a scarf with horses printed on it. It’s officially fall, and I’m ready.

So ready that I keep asking Jared, “Is it Christmas yet?”

But I can still taste the last drips of summer in my mouth, and film is the only way to show, really, what it was like.

Am I the only one mad for the unpredictability, the colors, the rawness and beauty of it? Film and summer both.

Here’s to one room beach-town diners with the smallest bathrooms I’ve ever seen, chairs by the pool, and gorgeous light.
