Being an artist means getting stuck. We look at our work and see the holes, and we want to be doing something more. Something that feeds our artist hearts, reminds us why we fell in love with this medium in the first place, and maybe feeds our wallets too…we just want to be confident that we can walk into a shoot and create something magical every time…and then we spiral. Is that even possible? We sigh.
Let me tell you what I’ve got for you.
It’s an experience. One that will challenge and change the way you do things. It will push you out of your comfort zone. But the weird thing is, it’s also incredibly fun and rewarding and beautiful in so many intangible ways…but before I get too gushy about the benefits of the workshop, let me tell you the details.
there are 3 variations on the workshop this go ’round.
after talking to bunches of you + hearing what would really light your fire, I didn’t feel like just one workshop was the right fit. here are the options, m’loves.
Heartful Workshop:
this is the original. family photography in the morning, writing your website (in a way that makes your dream peeps come running) in the afternoon. there will also be an online workshop before we get together with some initial instruction about website writing and some homework to get you on the right track. You will turn in your initial homework to me and receive feedback + revisions before we come together and finish out writing your entire site at the workshop. this is not for the folks who can only commit to one day and can’t handle prep work. it’s incredibly involved, but will also be incredibly rewarding when you have a site that completely represents you and works to attract the clients you want.
this is likely the last time I will be offering this workshop, so hop on it. π

Love Soaked Family Photography All Day Intensive:
the overwhelming feedback i received from the Heartful Workshop was that people loved watching the shoot, seeing how I run a shoot from start to finish and (even if it was slightly terrifying) loved being able to shoot and get feedback from me. SO–this workshop will have not just one but TWO in home shoots.
The first will be in our host home, and the second will be more reflective of what happens when I do an in home shoot where we will knock on the front door together and you’ll see how I do what I do with two completely different families, homes, and circumstances and be better equipped to apply the concepts we talk about to your own shoots.
Seeing something once, you can be inspired, but seeing something twice you get to internalize it. By watching this process again you will be assured that it’s not, in fact, actual magic but a few tools applied very strategically combined with my creative voice. okay that did sound like i was trying to pass it off as magic. π the point is: you can do this too. in your own, unique, gorgeous way that may look nothing like mine, but the tools/tips/tricks plus honing in on your own secret sauce will give you the inspo boost + practical how-to you need to make your family work what you want it to be.
we will cover:
- the game plan of shooting “lifestyle” family photos–where to start + end so you get the best results + never have those deer-in-the-headlights ‘oh gawsh what should we do next’ moments
- -infinitely variable poses, tricks, games + antics I use at every shoot to win kids over, inspire the artist within + make the session fun
- -how to make EVERY client look natural (and totally gorgeous)–this is HUGE
- -shooting film with fast moving kids + dark houses
- -dealing with nightmare situations + making beauty when everything sucks (crying kids mad dads raw files whaaa?)
- -attracting your ideal family client + finding your individual family shooting style
- -the biggest mistake (you don’t know you’re making) when shooting families (bonus: fixing it will drastically increase your satisfaction with your own work)
- -storytelling–honing your voice so you walk into every shoot with the confidence that you can make magic
- -shooting large families with a candid feel
- -the one factor that has the power to take your work from mediocre to show stopping
*warning: yesss you will get to use these pretty pictures for your portfolio. but the focus of the shoots will be learning and not frantically shooting allthethings. if you’re looking for a pure portfolio beef-up, this is not the right fit.
“There’s no better way to free up your mind and help you trust your own instincts. I had so many revelations about my “why” of photography. I think what I learned was so different from what I expected. It was specific to me and my strengths and weaknesses and truly invaluable. I would recommend Brooke’s unique and passionate workshop to any photographer on any level.”
The Details:
I’ve already heard you speak somewhere else. Is this going to be repeat for me?
Oh gosh there is SO much more in every single category I never have time to cover, haha. This is a deep dive into every concept plus individualized feedback, not to mention the shooting experiences and the time and space for every single one of your questions + blocks about making your family work speak to your heart.
What’s the schedule of this thing?
It’s going to be a jam packed day, I will be real. We’ll be together from 9am-9pm, with dinner together starting around 7pm. We will have learning time and our first shoot in the morning, then lunch and heading to our second shoot with more learning time and then wrap-up/relaxing at dinner.
Are you going to feed me? (#priorities)
Yes, friend. Your ticket price includes light breakfast, lunch + plenty of delish snacks. Dinner together that night is on your own.
Is this just for film shooters?
Nope. I’ll talk through my settings, metering + film tricks but the principles of working with kids + challenging houses apply to film and digital shooters, and both have come to workshops in the past and benefited equally.
Where in the world is this happening + when?
(SLC area) UTAH May 20, 2017.
How much does it cost?
Two payments of $475. One is due to hold your seat and the final will be due May 1. To be real, I’m taking a risk by splitting up the payments this way. But I trust that you’re not going to flake out at the last minute, and I know time helps a ton in the dollars-planning department. 10 seats available, love.
BONUS: this workshop is sponsored by The Find Lab! They’ll be providing film + processing for all the attendees plus a couple nifty surprises wiink. π

Love Soaked Family Photography Half Day Mini:
do i wish every single one of you could come for a whole day and get all the in depth”aha” moments that kind of time spent can offer? oh my gosh, holy yes. but i get that constraints are an issue, and sometimes you just need a tune-up and not a deep dive.
less time, less dollar bills, same core material. i’m still going to share alll the tips, tricks and tools to make your family photography work sing with that extra somethin’ somethin’. Because this workshop is on a smaller scale, there isn’t the same honing on your individual X factors, the same amount of individualized feedback, or the same detail in applying it to you personally.
So yes–we’ll cover everything listed in the all day intensive, but it’s more of a highlight reel.
What’s the schedule of this thing?
We’ll be together starting at 9am and have lunch together at the end, wrapping up around 2pm.
Are you going to feed me? #priorities
Yes! Your ticket price includes a light breakfast, lunch + plenty of delish snacks.
So, uhh…why on earth would I come to the all day one when I can come to the mini?
Usually the word “investment” is just a fancy way of saying “pricing” but here that word has more meaning and this is why: if you can swing a bigger investment of time, potential travel, and yeah, money into an all day experience–the potential to walk away with a bigger return on that investment is so much greater. (I’ll tell you–the biggest breakthroughs in my business have been connected to the biggest investments of time + money.)
Where in the world is this happening + when?
(SLC area) UTAH, March 18 2017
How much does it cost?
$550. A one hour online mentoring session with me is $500, so 5+ jam packed hours together including a shoot–yah. 10 seats available, love.
BONUS: This workshop is sponsored by The FIND Lab! They’ll be providing film + processing for all attendees.

The other thing that comes from this workshop that really can’t be overstated is community. This is your chance in this lonely photography world to gather with like-minded people and keep them as your go-to photo friends long after the workshop is over.
Creating together with other artists is an experience unlike any other, and the connections + breakthroughs that happen in real life can’t be matched by going through something online or sitting in a class with a hundred other peeps.
and now here’s the part where i realize my descriptions of the workshop experience can only tell you so much.
You really need to hear the words of the people who have been in your shoes, wondering if this thing is right for them.
Here are some reviews from past attendees (and they were even anonymous so they could say whatever they wanted and here’s what they said!):
“Brooke’s workshop is a double-whammy: a behind-the scenes look into her soulful way of shooting families, and if that isn’t enough, also a deep dive into yourself, your work, and your business. You will answer tough questions about yourself but come out with a strategy for how to communicate effectively with clients to make you shine with uniqueness, all with Brooke and her expert wordsmithing by your side to guide you.”
“So much great information and insight was learned. I will refer back to the notes over and over. If you are looking to hone in on your brand, get clarity on your business and direction of work, and gather new skills to engage with your clients then this is for you!”
“If you are looking for a workshop that really ignites your passion and makes you feel like you are sitting with friends and not in a school style workshop then you need to take Brooke’s workshop. It is more than just a workshop, its a process and she is there to guide you through this process of being an artist, a business owner and truly being yourself.”
So maybe other people are pretty happy with your work. but you’re not happy with it. and that artistic pursuit is what holds the power to take you from photographer-for-everyone-and-no-one to beautifully aligned + making the work your heart longs to make.
