Janine and Kevin. I’ve said it before but I gotta say it again: they’re two of the nicest people, ever. And they come from two of the nicest families. Weddings are a big deal, and I am constantly amazed at how kind families of the couples I work with are to me. It can be a big fat hairy stressful day, but it never feels that way when we are making photos together. Janine and Kevin made their day personal and focused on the people there–and there was so much happiness and love Janine’s backyard was overflowin with it.

Thank you, Janine and Kevin, for letting me in on your biggest day. You two are incredible and I wish you all the luck in the world in your adventures together!

Laura and Cordell are everything a couple should be on their wedding day: giddy, in love, and yes…beautiful. Alllright. I’ll nix the cheesiness. Sometimes people are just so perfect I can’t help myself.

Laura and Cordell were married in the Salt Lake City temple and hosted a fahhbulous reception party at This is the Place Heritage Park. There were shirtless men, balloons in cars, bubbles, and some mean dancing.

Congratulations, you two! You are wonderful beyond reason together and I feel lucky to have photographed such a great love.

Sometimes, I just know in my blood and guts that I am meant to photograph a certain wedding. When Candis contacted me, it didn’t seem like such perfection on paper–I was like, two days away from my due date–but after talking to her, I knew I had to photograph their big day. The two of them are restoring an old house in American Fork, and after our engagement photos there, there was no doubt their wedding would be magnificent. And it was. They did everything my photographer heart dreams couples would do: focused on things that meant a lot to them and skipped out on things that didn’t, made the day about their love and relationship, and let themselves enjoy the day.

They also waded through the stress and worry and sadness of some close family members being in a very serious car accident shortly before their wedding with really stunning grace. They pulled their wedding together with the help of fabulous family and friends and the most laid-back attitudes–Candis and Andy knew what their wedding was about. It was a beautiful, intimate, lovely celebration of two of the most down-to-earth wonderful people.

Congratulations, Candis and Andy. Thank you for your kindness and for letting me into your lives and your biggest day. You two are absolutely perfect together, and I wish you a million years of happiness in your new family.

Andy surprised Candis with a dance to “Endless Love”–before they met each other, they didn’t believe all that cheesy romantic stuff could actually be real. Whenever either of them started saying something sentimental, the other would start singing “Endless Love” as a joke–but they danced to it because every sappy thing they’d made fun of turned out to be, like, for REAL. One of my favorite first dances I’ve ever photographed.

Jen + JR’s wedding was a dream: sophisticated and glamorous, yet laid back–with plenty of guest mingling, heart-warming toasts, live music, and lovely dancing. The Salt Lake Hardware building was the perfect backdrop to their day (love that place!) and their big hearts and style for miles made everything perfect.

We were sure it was going to do nothing but rain on their wedding day–but sure enough, the sun came out and stayed a while.

It was so fun to see this couple obviously so, so in love and engulfed in wedded bliss. It’s one of the things I love most about weddings–seeing a pair be such a perfect match for each other and just look at each other with wonder and amazement like, “you chose me! I chose you! We love each other and this is real!”
