Earthy Wedding Inspiration–Featured on Wedding Chicks

March 18, 2014 •

Just so you know, the people who do weddings are amazing. They can work their magic even when it’s raining cats and dogs. And so it was on the day of this shoot–the shoot where I had dreamed that the bride and groom would get into the water and hug and love and stuff. I have been dying, clawing at the walls, to share this shoot–so now that I finally can you are never going to see the end of it.

This team wins the ultimate award for best sports, as everything was happening in a downpour, and I mean everything.

A huge lovey squeezy hug goes to all these vendors, and models Brooke and her Jeffrey husband, for going beyond the point of bravery and into the freezing water. You are my best friends for life–like it or not.

So honored to have this shoot featured on Wedding Chicks, and you can see that goodness here.

Jackie + Andy: Red Butte Gardens Wedding

March 7, 2014 •

Jackie and Andy have been together since high school, and everyone who came to celebrate their big day talked about how right it was. How meant for each other they are; how they make each other better. How wonderfully they treat each other, how strong they are together.

Beautiful thing after beautiful thing was said about these two, and while they had a quiet moment together during their first dance I couldn’t help but well up with how stunningly perfect it was–because, at the end of the day, the dress was magnificent and the flowers were incredible and every detail was supreme, but their love? Took the cake.

Jackie and Andy, thank you for trusting me completely and letting me be part of such a wonderful day. I wish you the most blissful life full of adventures together.

Emily + Max: Oquirrh Mountain Temple Wedding

February 21, 2014 •

There was an absolute explosion of love and pure joy outside the temple where Emily and Max were married. They were overflowing. And why shouldn’t they be? They were just married for the whole of forever to the person they love most. Man my job is great. I admit that I’m an emotion junkie, and to say I got my high from Emily and Max’s wedding would be an understatement.

Emily and Max, you are perfect together. Thank you for your kindness, and for letting me be part of your biggest and best day. It was a pleasure.

Devin + Kyle: Draper Temple Wedding

February 18, 2014 •

Devin and Kyle are yet another example of the cold hard fact that I get to work with the nicest, most beautiful people on the earth. You’ll see in a second–you can feel who they are in these photos: kind, down to earth, and lovely as anything.

Their love makes sense, and despite both being smack in the middle of a busy school semester they found time to enjoy this incredible day that solidified and officialized their love for the whole of ever.

Devin and Kyle, thank you so much for letting me be part of your wedding day. You are perfect for each other, and I couldn’t be happier for you.

Ayley + Adam: DIY Backyard Salt Lake City Wedding

February 10, 2014 •

I have been sitting on this wedding for far, far too long–it’s featured over on 100 Layer Cake today, and I am beyond thrilled to finally be able to share it.

Ayley and Adam are the kind of couple I make my very best photos with–creative as anything, with fabulous style, but most importantly: full of and sharing in the most lovely way a beautiful, deep love that was the center of their love party.

Ayley has written so exquisitely about their wedding on her blog, it seems strange to add anything, when I feel like I was so wholly part of it, and still a fly on the wall–my most favorite way to feel when documenting a wedding.

One thing is for absolute sure: Ayley and Adam have something incredibly special. They radiate, together, and people of all kinds are just drawn to them. I remember Adam asking me over and over how I was feeling, on their wedding day, and I kept saying, “I’m so good!” but in a surprised way, because usually couples are (very understandably so) wrapped in the bliss and emotion of their big day. Ayley and Adam aren’t those people, though. They care about people, and the whole world, in a way that just invites everyone…to the love party.

Baha. Okay, that was cheesy, but just way too easy. And also the downright truth.

These two inspired me to shoot film again, and their whole day was a beautiful reminder of why I do what I do. Ayley and Adam, I cannot say enough thank yous for allowing me to be part of your loveliest day. You are a wonderful couple, the role model of love for humans everywhere–I feel absolutely honored to have been part of your wedding. I wish you the best, a million times over.

SUPER EXCITED doesn’t really capture how I feel about Ayley + Adam’s wedding being featured on 100 Layer Cake today. Their wedding was glorious, 100 Layer Cake is glorious, and I finally get to share every last bit of their fabulous love party.

Devin + Kyle: Utah State Capitol Bridals

January 21, 2014 •

Devin and Kyle, a gorgeous sunny day, a stunning bouquet by Flower Afternoon, and the most beautiful window light at the state capitol made these bridals some of my very favorites.

They’re off on their honeymoon now, celebrating brand new wedded bliss made official just a few days ago. I can’t wait to show you the joy and the pretty that went along with it.

Flowers: Flower Afternoon

Dress: Alta Moda

If you’re ridiculously in love and thrilled to the moon that you’re about to marry the love of your life, I want to make photos with you.

Maggie + Elliott: Salt Lake City Temple Bridals

January 16, 2014 •

Maggie and Elliott are two of the kindest, happiest people. When they look at each other, and giggle, the whole earth pretty much explodes with bliss. We squeezed in a session while Elliott was in town, but now they’re married and isn’t that just one of the best things? Never having to do “the long distance thing” again?

Maggie’s dress was a stunner, custom made from Penelope’s. Major style points to these two.

Maggie and Elliott, thank you so much for letting me be part of celebrating your wedded bliss. I wish you a million versions of all the best.

Mallary + Landon: Salt Lake City Wedding

January 10, 2014 •

Mallary and Landon have a glow of kindness about them. I wish there were more words for nice, because that’s who they are times a zillion, and I would list all of those words and it couldn’t describe the extent of their niceness. They take people in, perfect strangers and favorite people alike, and see them. It’s a rare gift for two halves of a couple to possess.

They were married in the Bountiful temple on a cold but sunny day and now that these two are combined, for permanent, they cannot be stopped. I’m sure their cheeks ached from grinning, but it was a day that warranted it. Their love and their vivacity is contagious.

Mal and Landon, thank you for letting me be part of your wedding day. You two are amazing, on your own, and then together–just wow.

I wish you the best of the best in your adventures together. You will do incredible things, I’m sure of it.

Erica + Joe: Wheeler Farm Wedding

January 9, 2014 •

Erica and Joe were married on a gorgeous fall day at Wheeler Farm, with oodles of friends and family there to share in their bliss. Joe laughed and talked with his guys before, like it was the most natural thing in the world to be marrying Erica on that day.

Erica rushed up the stairs (things were running late, as they sometimes can at a wedding, you know…) and her girls reassured her that everything was going to be great.

And it was.

Their wedding was full of the tender loving centerpiece-making everything-styling care of Erica’s sister Candis, whom I adore for a million reasons. Erica and Joe, thank you for letting me be part of your special day. You are a wonderful pair and  you exude all the happiness and love that should come with marriage. Potential marrieds, watch and learn.

As the reception was winding down, these two just started doing this. I smiled and Candis and said, “You guys are just the cutest.” And she got this little-kid grin, and do you know what she said? “Yeah, we love each other. We’re just really lucky.” That kind of love amazes me. (And it runs in the family!)

See all of Erica and Joe’s wedding photos and order prints here.

Crazy in love and need beautiful photos to remind you, every day, in a gorgeous album or nice and huge on your wall? I very well could be your lady. Get in touch about your wedding here.
