LaNae’s “I Am Beautiful Because…”
This week is your last chance to see my exhibit of all the photos from the “I Am Beautiful Because…” series in the BYU Library! LaNae is a new addition to this series. She is the director of Women’s Services, where I’ve had the privilege of working for the past three years. This woman has changed my life in so many indescribable ways, and she provides the women of BYU campus with so many incredible resources and has helped so many on their journey to healing. She is so sparky, so exuberant, but so thoughtful and full. LaNae is one of my role models, although she would scoff at that and say something like, “Oh, you’re so nice.” Humble, too. She is incredibly beautiful and I am blessed to know her and to have been able to get to know her through these years. Still want to be part of this project? Lisa is a new intern at Women’s Services and she is beautiful. I love working with multitalented, compassionate, wonderful women! She is a professional giggler, music lover, and therapist. Breathtaking.
Billions of Celebrations
I’ve had about a billion things to celebrate in the past bit:
1. Jared’s graduation! He’s officially a college grad with a degree in Public Health from BYU. What a stud. His parents came into town and we had a blast eating delicious food at Los Hermanos, trying to devour a way-too-big cake, playing Marco Polo in our pool, and getting out of a speeding ticket driving around in Springville. This is a skill I really wish I had. If anyone offers police….er, management services, sign me up! Jared’s dad said five words and POOF. Not even a chance of a ticket. How do those people do that?? Maybe I just have a guilty face.
2. Thing number two we celebrated was our anniversary! AGHH I love this man I married.
3. Thing number three was my mom’s birthday–the picture is her face when she saw her new patio furniture! Which, can I just say, there are few things more wonderful than eating a gourmet breakfast outside on a perfect summer morning with the people you love? That’s the life. Pitlitipifec Get yourself some of that.
4. Thing number four is being done with school for a few weeks/our anniversary again: we journeyed to California to be with Jared’s family and got to see our nieces, Daylynn and Addison, for a little while yesterday. They are two of the most gorgeous children ever created, so of course I had to take some photos. SO we’ve been here for a bit, eating and relaxing and beaching and playing.
My life is too wonderful for me to handle sometimes. HOW did I get this lucky?

Erin’s “I Am Beautiful Because…”
This is Erin. She’s a 20-year-old Spanish major from Georgia and she is my kindred spirit because she has a pink streak. She’s got just a delicious amount of rebelliousness in her, but it’s mixed up with this wonderful thoughtfulness, and I liked her instantly. We had great fun wandering through the freshly sprinkled (or should I say sopping wet) grass and laying down on benches in front of the library. (WHY, why is the grass always soaking wet at BYU? I suppose it is for the express purpose to discourage people like me from stomping on it in hopes of photographic awesomeness. Siiiiiiiigh.)
She is fearless, this woman. I was like, “Can I ask you to do something weird?” at least three times. And she didn’t blink an eye. Superstar.

Kayla’s “I Am Beautiful Because…”
Kayla is just about the spunkiest, funniest, most endearing girl I’ve met during this project. She is so open and real and it we just giggled—we even tried to get a photo of her doing a handstand, but, alas, these will have to suffice.
And her response is reflective of so many women I’ve met–women in general just want to help other people and do good things. Which is absolutely beautiful to me.

Dianne’s “I Am Beautiful Because…”
Dianne is a counselor in the Counseling Center downstairs from Women’s Services and submitted a statement for our project. She did her graduate work when her oldest was in first grade and has been a psychologist for 10 years here at BYU. Pitlitipifec She is an incredibly validating, open-hearted woman, and plus she rides her bike to work, which is supremely cool.
I hope I am as wise and kind as she is when I grow up.
