Sarah + Tom: This is the Place Engagements

February 6, 2014 •

Sarah and Tom are pure fun. Our session was full of laughs and snuggles, even as we trekked through the snow and cold. Their love is one that just makes sense–like there is no other logical conclusion other than the fact that they positively belong together. They keep each other young, and it’s obvious what a perfect balance they are to each other. What a delight this pair is.

Thank you, Sarah and Tom, for letting me document your love.

If you’re really really in love and you need really really beautiful photos, I could just be your lady. See the details for engagement and wedding photography right here.

The Bairds: Lifestyle Family Session at Home

February 5, 2014 •

I have known the Bairds since their Ivy was a little babe. Even then she was full of personality, making the cutest and most hilarious faces at every stranger. But now, as a two year old, she is the queen of spunk! It was a joy to photograph her vivacity, and see how much happiness she brings to her incredible parents. Alyssia is my talented friend–I love photographing moms with their babes especially, because we too often get buried behind the camera.

I couldn’t be more honored to be let in on the day-to-day beauty of your lives and love, Alyssia, Dustin and Ivy. Thank you times a million for having me.

Brooke Schultz photographs families at home for the most authentic, love-soaked photos–so you can have real memories on your walls and kiss stress-filled treks to random fields goodbye. If you have a family and a home overflowing with love, she wants to photograph you in it. See the details about having your family documented right here.

Emily + Max: Salt Lake City Bridals

January 28, 2014 •

Emily and Max are finally wed and together for all of forever. It seems only right to celebrate with the photos where Max saw Emily for the first time in her dress and had one of the best reactions in the history of First Looks. While we waited for Max, Emily was so adorably nervous and excited, pacing the room and tugging at this and that. My favorite part was when she heard him coming and screamed “I LOVE HIM!” to the universe.

The best loves are when each half sees how incredibly lucky they are to have the other.

Brooke Schultz photographs intimate, handmade weddings with soul and couples that radiate with love and bliss. If you’ve got a great man and great plans for a non-cookie cutter wedding plus a whole lot of love, I want to photograph you. See the details here.

Devin + Kyle: Utah State Capitol Bridals

January 21, 2014 •

Devin and Kyle, a gorgeous sunny day, a stunning bouquet by Flower Afternoon, and the most beautiful window light at the state capitol made these bridals some of my very favorites.

They’re off on their honeymoon now, celebrating brand new wedded bliss made official just a few days ago. I can’t wait to show you the joy and the pretty that went along with it.

Flowers: Flower Afternoon

Dress: Alta Moda

If you’re ridiculously in love and thrilled to the moon that you’re about to marry the love of your life, I want to make photos with you.

Maggie + Elliott: Salt Lake City Temple Bridals

January 16, 2014 •

Maggie and Elliott are two of the kindest, happiest people. When they look at each other, and giggle, the whole earth pretty much explodes with bliss. We squeezed in a session while Elliott was in town, but now they’re married and isn’t that just one of the best things? Never having to do “the long distance thing” again?

Maggie’s dress was a stunner, custom made from Penelope’s. Major style points to these two.

Maggie and Elliott, thank you so much for letting me be part of celebrating your wedded bliss. I wish you a million versions of all the best.

Christmas in California

January 13, 2014 •

It was a whirlwind getting there: I shot a wedding and then we rushed to the airport. Lest you think it was glamorous, even a little bit, I will tell you about the Chipotle burrito drippings on my pants, and that we were in such a rush I couldn’t grab any of the pants that were packed away to change, so I wafted through the airport and the tiny plane pretty much reeking of beef and cheese. (Hopefully the cilantro added a little freshness?)

Oh my. Once we arrived, we basked in the sunlight and Christmas junk food and swirls of wrapping paper and it was relaxing and heavenly. Looking out my window at everything brown and dead and cold, I would not say no to going back right about…now.

Miley Cyrus was there…hah.Want beautiful photographs of your favorite people? See the details here, and contact me here.

Mallary + Landon: Salt Lake City Wedding

January 10, 2014 •

Mallary and Landon have a glow of kindness about them. I wish there were more words for nice, because that’s who they are times a zillion, and I would list all of those words and it couldn’t describe the extent of their niceness. They take people in, perfect strangers and favorite people alike, and see them. It’s a rare gift for two halves of a couple to possess.

They were married in the Bountiful temple on a cold but sunny day and now that these two are combined, for permanent, they cannot be stopped. I’m sure their cheeks ached from grinning, but it was a day that warranted it. Their love and their vivacity is contagious.

Mal and Landon, thank you for letting me be part of your wedding day. You two are amazing, on your own, and then together–just wow.

I wish you the best of the best in your adventures together. You will do incredible things, I’m sure of it.

So you’re in love, too, and ready to get married to the best person you’ve ever known? Brooke Schultz is a Utah wedding photographer, aka moment junkie, and she’d love to be part of your big day. Chat with her about it right here.

Erica + Joe: Wheeler Farm Wedding

January 9, 2014 •

Erica and Joe were married on a gorgeous fall day at Wheeler Farm, with oodles of friends and family there to share in their bliss. Joe laughed and talked with his guys before, like it was the most natural thing in the world to be marrying Erica on that day.

Erica rushed up the stairs (things were running late, as they sometimes can at a wedding, you know…) and her girls reassured her that everything was going to be great.

And it was.

Their wedding was full of the tender loving centerpiece-making everything-styling care of Erica’s sister Candis, whom I adore for a million reasons. Erica and Joe, thank you for letting me be part of your special day. You are a wonderful pair and  you exude all the happiness and love that should come with marriage. Potential marrieds, watch and learn.

As the reception was winding down, these two just started doing this. I smiled and Candis and said, “You guys are just the cutest.” And she got this little-kid grin, and do you know what she said? “Yeah, we love each other. We’re just really lucky.” That kind of love amazes me. (And it runs in the family!)

See all of Erica and Joe’s wedding photos and order prints here.

Crazy in love and need beautiful photos to remind you, every day, in a gorgeous album or nice and huge on your wall? I very well could be your lady. Get in touch about your wedding here.

The Best of 2013

January 6, 2014 •

It seems absolutely ludicrous that my life could just get exponentially better with every year that passes; but, that’s exactly what’s happened. Sometimes the cynic inside freaks out, certain it will all have to come crashing down around me at some point. That may be true, but the more I wade through experiences happy and sad boring and thrilling drudgerous and dangerous, the more sure I am of how resilient I have the power to be. Maybe that’s too cocky to put out into the universe and I’m surely asking for it now, but here goes. Do your worst, world.

2013 brought me the greatest joy I’ve ever known: baby Vienna girl. She is more beautiful and exquisite than any photo I could ever create, and I sit in awe on a daily basis at the fact that I created her. She is so sparkly, vivacious–I’ll never get enough. I thought about not saying that, because shouldn’t my greatest joy be my Jared? But it was so binding for us, and as wonderful as young love is, this kind is deeper and it grips your heart so sometimes you can’t even breathe with how amazing and huge it is.

But before Vienna girl, I was full of uncertainty, having to make a dozen plans without any idea how I’d feel. Oh, you’ll just want to stay home, person after person told me. That’s the problem with advice: people can only give it from the belly of their own experience, but even with that caveat it’s preached like gospel truth. I was swimming in fear, apprehension, and the biggest anticipation of my life.

Then she came and everything made sense. Of course I would still photograph. I was still me. She just added a zillion dimensions, a million laughs and face-splitting grins, and a smattering of moments where I wanted to rip out my hair.

There’s power in closure. It’s something I’ve ached for in so many relationships, so it feels good to be able to snap up a calendar year and breathe in the success, the failures, the crap and the glory. And I won’t lie, it feels good to curate some highlights and not acknowledge the junk for a minute.

These photographs. Many of my favoritest favorites from 2013 I can’t share yet, but here are some that spoke to me. Thank you times a hundred hundreds to you fabulous people who trusted me to tell the stories of your wedding days, your love, your families. You are all stunning and I’m just really grateful to you.

Hope you love.

2014 is already shaping up to be fabulous. I’d love to photograph you this year. Let’s make it happen.

Jenessa + Landon: Salt Lake City Bridals

January 2, 2014 •

Jenessa and Landon are a rad pair with two of the most infectious smiles ever created. Jenessa is in a really cool band, and oh my goodness. The voice on this girl, you gotta check her out. They’re both working hard in school and made time in their busiest week to come see me and make some photos together. Every body part was frozen solid by the end of it, but they were the best sports.

I’m so, so happy for you two. You make the most wonderful couple and I’m honored to have been part of telling your love story.

Freshly engaged and in need of beautiful photographs? I do that kind of thing. See the details for wedding photography here.
